Just read that Arsenal have signed Theo for £5 million initially, rising to £12.5 million in total.

Thats an awful lot of money to spend on a 16 year old who has only played a handful of games in the Championship.

He essentially an unproven prospect and a huge gamble.

Having already had his fingers burnt with the purchases of Jermaine Pennant and Francis Jeffers as raw recruits, you'd think Arsene Wenger might have known better.

It's maybe a sign of his lack of confidence, and his need to do something to get a headline?

It does seem way too much money for a 16 yr old...but then, knowing what we know now, who wouldn't have spent twice that (in the current market) on Rooney aged 15?

I think he could be a great player, if only he were given the chance. Maybe McLaren will see that something special that makes him worth £5 million.
