I have just read 'Dinner with a Perfect Stranger' by David Gregory and I highly recommend it. The Messiah has brilliant one liners.

I am reading Billy Graham's 'The Journey', apparently his last-ever book. Its typical Billy - straight and simple; direct explanation of what God requires from us in our life journey on this earth. A great guide to christian living. All about how to handle life and all its complications in an uncertain and harsh world. Its very comforting and reassuring that God is on our side all the way and we are not alone.

Grt book.

I just finished Mark Driscoll's "Confessions of a Reformission Reverand". If you don't know who Mark is, he founded the Mars Hill Church in Seattle, Washington when he was 24 with twelve people. He now runs a ministry of over five thousand! Its an awesome read and the funny thing is, he is such a normal guy, with normal struggles and the like. He is in no way "High and Mighty" and admits where he comes short. I'd recommend it to everyone.

I just started reading "Cut to the Chase" by a couple of guys from your side of the pond. So far it is great!

I would also recommend Velvet Elvis by another Mars Hill alumni, Rob Bell. An excellent book.

I'll be sure to get Rob Bell's book. I hadn't realized that he was a Mars Hill guy!

Would like to back up the recommendation to read this book. Like his 'Nooma' videos, Rob comes across as writing very simply and straightforwardly to the point that you may at first think what he is saying is simple. The truth is I end up at the end of each chapter knowing it was an easy read and then realising the profoundity of so much of what is said, and I end up re-reading the chapter. I know several people who read the first few pages and abandoned it as too simple. I urge you to persist and discover the way Rob says and writes things in an easy to digest manner whilst being quite revelationary at the same time.

Give it a go!

Matt

Yes, Velvet Elvis is an excellent book, I've recommended it to lots of people.

And Sex God, his second book is equally good - really interesting and thought provoking.

Another book that is a must read for anyone but especially church leaders is 'Crossing Over' by Paul Scanlon. Very inspiring and exciting to think how churches can and should be ... but a frustrating read for those who aren't in a position to make the changes in their own churches maybe!

I'm reading this book at the moment. Anyone who has contact with Willow Creek will know Bill. This is an amazingly challenging book for anyone with an interest in leadership within the church and I would highly recommend it.

I fully intend to have a look at this:

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/portsmouth/article2373739.ece

I find the idea of someone that gave up the trappings of a succesful football career to give his life to Christ (and he's still a pretty decent foot baller) very inspiring.

Also he now gets double figure attendance among players and staff at Portsmouth FC for his pre match prayer meetings - top man!

[color=blue] Confused Am new to this site - but would like to back up Token Woman in the recommendation for Rob bell's book 'Sex God' - it is brilliant even more so than Velvet Elvis. He opens up a magnificent understanding of the nature of our sexual relationships and how they have the possibility of helping us understand the nature of our relationship with God. He also opens up the understanding of the Jewish marriag rlationship and how that translates in our understanding of the scriptures. Fantastic and a must read for all guys whatever age and stage married or unmarried![color=blue]

wow power leveling,
The Chinese New Year is now popularly known as the Spring Festival because it starts from the Begining of Spring (the first of the twenty-four terms in coodination with the changes of Nature).wow power leveling Its origin is too old to be traced. Several explanations are hanging around. All agree, however, that the word Nian, which in modern Chinese solely means "year", was originally the name of a monster beast that started to prey on people the night before the beginning of a new year.
aion kinah,
One legend goes that the beast Nian had a very big mouth that would swallow a great many people with one bite.aion kinah People were very scared. One day, an old man came to their rescue, offering to subdue Nian. To Nian he said,
wedding dresses,
"I hear say that you are very capable, wedding dresses but can you swallow the other beasts of prey on earth instead of people who are by no means of your worthy opponents?" So, it did swallow many of the beasts of prey on earth that also harrassed people and their domestic animals from time to time.
cheap aion kinah,
After that, cheap aion kinah the old man disappeared riding the beast Nian. He turned out to be an immortal god. Now that Nian is gone and other beasts of prey are also scared into forests, people begin to enjoy their peaceful life. Before the old man left,
maple story mesos,
he had told people to put up red paper decorations on their windows and doors at each year's end to scare away Nian in case it sneaked back again, maple story mesos because red is the color the beast feared the most.
world of warcraft power leveling,
From then on,world of warcraft power leveling the tradition of observing the conquest of Nian is carried on from generation to generation. The term "Guo Nian", which may mean "Survive the Nian" becomes today "Celebrate the (New) Year" as the word "guo" in Chinese having both the meaning of "pass-over" and "observe". The custom of putting up red paper and firing fire-crackers to scare away Nian should it have a chance to run loose is still around. However, people today have long forgotten why they are doing all this, except that they feel the color and the sound add to the excitement of the celebration.
